Zanzibar

Zanzibar Island, also known as Unguja, is the main island in the Tanzanian archipelago of Zanzibar in the Indian Ocean.

Why Zanzibar?

It is famous for its turquoise crystal clear water, idyllic beaches, warm tropical weather and rich marine life with a lot of coral reefs.

All this make Zanzibar perfect perfect for a wedding or to relax during your honeymoon.

Where to stay on the island?

Zanzibar North-east Coast – The island’s prime location, most of Zanzibar’s top-end accommodation is set on the north-east beaches. The diving is excellent here and the archipelago’s best reefs of Mnemba Island lie about a kilometre or half a mile offshore.

Jambiani – This is the place to go for a more quite vacation. The beaches here are not far from as beautiful as the one in Nungwi and Kendwa. This is also close to the national park “Jozani forest” with different species of monkeys and nature trails.

Stone town – This is the place to go for historical buildings, museums and shopping (maybe some spices and local wood craft?). It is also only a 20 minutes boat ride to “Prison Island” with the famous giant turtles. Some of them over 100 years old.

Best time to visit?

The best time to visit Zanzibar is from June to October during the cool, dry months of spring. Another popular time to visit this tropical island is from December to February when it’s hot and dry.
